Coconut-Crusted Avocado Fries with Tamarind Dip

July 13, 2026 1 min read Wild Card 7 ingredients

Creamy avocado gets a double crunch coating that transforms it into something entirely new. The air fryer keeps the interior silky while the exterior becomes irresistibly golden.

Ingredients

0/7 ready
  • 2 firm but ripe avocados, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • For the dip: 2 tablespoons tamarind concentrate, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon warm water, pinch of cayenne

The Story & Steps

The first time you bite into one of these, the contrast is almost shocking: that crispy, toasted coconut exterior giving way to cool, buttery avocado. It's a study in contrasts that the air fryer handles beautifully, no deep-frying required.

The Coating Process:

  1. Set up three shallow bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and panko mixed with coconut and garlic powder in the third.
  2. Dredge each avocado wedge in flour, shaking off excess.
  3. Dip in egg, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Press firmly into the panko-coconut mixture, coating completely.
  5. Spray coated wedges lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry at 400°F for 6 minutes, flip gently, and cook another 4-5 minutes until deeply golden.

The Dip

Whisk all dip ingredients together until smooth. The sweet-tart tamarind cuts through the richness perfectly. Serve the fries immediately while still hot and crispy.
