Ingredients

0/15 ready
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sesame seed buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 8 leaves of lettuce
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 large white onion, sliced
  • 12 dill pickle slices
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoon relish
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Butter for toasting buns

The Story & Steps

For years, Plankton has tried to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula from Mr. Krabs. While we can't reveal if there's actually a secret ingredient (nice try, Plankton), we can tell you that the magic is in the love and care put into each burger—just like SpongeBob does it.

The "Secret" Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, relish, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.

The Patties

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (4 oz each).
  2. Form into patties slightly larger than your buns (they'll shrink when cooking).
  3. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging.
  4. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  6. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  7. Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Assembly (The SpongeBob Way)

  1. Butter and toast the buns on the griddle until golden.
  2. Spread secret sauce on both the top and bottom buns.
  3. On the bottom bun: lettuce, tomato, patty with melted cheese, pickles, onion.
  4. Crown with the top bun.
  5. Serve immediately with a side of kelp fries (regular fries) and a smile.

Pro Tip: For maximum authenticity, flip the patties with great enthusiasm while shouting "I'm ready!"
